What can you do with old jeans? – Sewing instructions for original bag
And how can you sew an original denim bag yourself? Here we offer you a detailed guide! You need the following materials and tools:
- an old jeans (not made of elastic fabric!)
- two leather belts
- sewing machine
First, you should cut one trouser leg to 50cm, cut along the seam, and put the fabric in front of you. Repeat with the other trouser leg and put them together exactly. Measure a 20cm long section in the center of the bottom of the pieces and cut at an angle towards the foot seam, creating a trapeze at the end. Now you are done with the sides of the bag, and should cut out the bottom and corners. Measure and cut 50cm from the top of one leg – cut along the seam and open the fabric. Then you should measure and cut two rectangles (9x50cm). And for the bottom of the bag you should cut the denim in strips (9x28cm). The next step is to sew all the pieces together. When sewing, the inside of the bag should be outside, then it is turned over. Fix the fabric with pins and sit behind the sewing machine. When you are finished with sewing, you only have to get a grip. For this purpose you need two old leather belts. Place one belt on one side of the bag and punch the fabric with the awl exactly where the rivets should be. Finally, attach this “handle” with the rivets and hammer. Repeat this process with the other belt and you’re done!
