You can build picture frames yourself in the appropriate size and it is really not difficult. All you need is some materials and, of course, design creativity. Necessary materials

The materials depend on the size of the frame you want to construct. We present you a frame with size 40cm x 50cm:

• 2 strips, 50cm x 5cm x 3.5cm
• 2 strips, 60cm x 5cm x 3.5cm
• 1 wooden plate, 10cm x 5cm x 1cm
• Electric tacker, tacker needles
• 2 small eyebolts, 1 piece of rope or wire
• small stitch nails

Step 1

First, you must carefully cut the four mitred bars , There is also a possibility to put the bars dull against each other, but it looks less precise. In addition, a fold should be worked on the backs of the strips, in which the picture is inserted later. The depth of the fold depends on the picture , If the frame is intended for an image that is stretched on a stretcher and thick accordingly, the fold must be correspondingly deeper, with a thin image such as a photograph, a thinner fold is sufficient. In this construction manual is worked with 1cm deep fold.

Then you have to connect the finished strips together. Then you have to put them together and fix them on the back with three staple needles in each corner. Additional stability is provided by triangles made from the wood panel. The wood panel must be divided into four triangles, which are then placed over the corners and also fixed with staple needles.

Now the hanging follows. You need to attach the two small eyebolts to the top bar. The positions of the eyebolts are determined by the size of the frame, as a guideline, the first screw is positioned at a quarter and the second screw at three quarters. With a 50cm wide frame, the two screws are placed 12.5cm from the outer edges in the middle. Then the string must be tied between the two screws. This string will later hang the picture on the wall. Finally, you have to put the picture in the picture frame. To keep it within limits, it is fixed by small nails, which are beaten over the image in the fold or the bar.
