Right tools when building!
Materials: 1 floor: 12 × 12 cm; 1 roof: 24 × 20 cm; 1 front wall: 25 × 12 cm; 2 side walls: 25/28 × 14 cm; 1 rear wall: 28 × 16 cm; 1 bar: 60 × 5 cm;
For Nistkastenbau 2 cm thick unplaned boards are recommended! Oak, robinia and larch wood is the most durable.
Plywood, chipboard or the wood of fruit boxes are unsuitable because they attract too much moisture!
The roof can be covered with roof or corrugated cardboard!
Avoid wood preservatives so as not to endanger the health of the birds!
To protect against moisture and fungal attack, you can paint the outer walls with linseed oil or environmentally friendly colors!
First, the boards are cut to size! For this, it is best to draw the silhouette with a pencil and then saw it with the jigsaw until all the required components are available!
Screw the rear wall to the side walls!
Insert the base into the frame and screw it tight!
To fix the front wall, two holes have to be drilled! 4-5 mm drill diameter is recommended!
Now the front wall is used! The wall is fixed with two screws so that you can still move them!
The roof is fixed on the box so that it protrudes 2 cm on all sides!
To stabilize the front wall, a nail is placed below and in the middle!
Finally, a wire bow is bent and attached to the roof to hang the nesting box arbitrarily!
The nest box for your garden birds is already done!
